“Elsa Morante: One Hundred Years of Celebration”
SESSION 21
Strasbourg, France
May 31 - June 2, 2012
Organizer: Ryan Calabretta-Sajder, Rice University, rcalabretta@gmail.com
Elsa Morante, one of the greatest scrittori or narratori of contemporary Italy, has left her mark on the modern narrative. Although never wanting to be characterized a feminist author, to many it seems impossible not to crown her as Italy’s feminist author par excellence. This session celebrates the 100th anniversary of Morante’s birth (1912-2012) and her legacy which she has left on Italian literature and culture. Please forward a brief biography along with a 250 word abstract by December 20, 2012 to Ryan Calabretta-Sajder, Lecturer in Italian, Rice University Board of Directors.
